Arabella golf course is about a 20 min drive from the guest house and Hermanus golf club is about a 5 min drive. There are other golf courses in the area namely Kleinmondt and Kleinbaai which is near Gansbaai. Arabella costs about R650 for 18 holes and you can hire clubs and a golfcart. Hermanus will cost you about R380 for 18 holes and you can also hire clubs (R200) and a cart R220). It is advisable to book in advance. The other courses cost less and are very nice but don't have the same facilities.

Arabella Golf Course

The theme is balance. Challenging enough to bring you back for more, enjoyable enough to make you not want to leave. This is the motto Arabella lives for and this is exactly what the golf course has to offer and more.

The course is diverse with links, parklands and coastal aspects within it. Features of the course are its wide fairways with plenty of bunkers and water hazards, and well-kept "bend grass" greens.

Arabella signature hole
8th Hole – Par 5 – 499 metres

This is one of the Cape's most memorable holes. The hole is first viewed from a
high tee and while the tee shot is blind, it is immediately obvious that the wide sloping fairway runs severely downhill before flattening out to lead to the green that is visible in the distance. The visual pleasure, as well as the challenge, is made up of trees, bunkers and water hazards as well as the sparkling backdrop that is the Bot River Lagoon that nestles in the shadow of the gentle Kogelberg Mountains . Reeds to the left of the fairway and to the left of the green add to this visual beauty and to the challenge of this majestic par 5 hole.

Arabella is about a 20 min drive from Hermanus. We can book tee off times for you and booking is a must. Arabella is a long course and it is advisable you take a golf cart. I estimate that it would on average take half an hour longer than your normal 18 holes. Arabella does have clubs for hire and if you intend playing the top courses in the Western Cape then it is a must.

Hermanus Golf Course

Hermanus Golf Club lies along the stunning stretch of coast, referred to as the Whale Coast, 100 kilometres from Cape Town centre. Hermanus has become one of the most popular golf courses in the country - a definite 'must play' course. It is a private course, offering exclusivity to the members, yet accessibility to the public.

This course presents a good test of ones golfing skills. The sixth hole is one of the toughest holes in the Cape. It has a suit and out-of-bounds on the right and trees to the left of this narrow fairway, demanding accuracy into the wind. The green slopes uphill from front to back with a water hazard looming close by on the right.

recently upgraded and a further 9 holes added
It is a good course but will be stunning when fully established.

Hermanus golf course ranks amongst the top "municipal" golf courses in the country and is extremely well maintained. It is about a 5 min. drive from On the Cliff guest house. It does have golf clubs for hire from the pro shop but only limited numbers so booking would be essential. Booking of tee off times is very important.
